Eldercare Workforce Alliance

CSWE, through the Gero-Ed Center, is an active member of the national Eldercare Workforce Alliance (EWA), composed of 31 associations representing consumers, families, direct care workers, and health care professionals from a wide range of disciplines.

EWA aims to improve quality of life for older adults and their families, address workforce shortages, and provide quality, culturally sensitive, person-directed, family-focused care. Believing that a strong eldercare workforce is central to real health care reform, EWA seeks to mobilize its constituencies to influence federal policies related to geriatric workforce development and care coordination. The Gero-Ed Center informs CSWE members of action alerts relevant to the geriatric workforce and long-term care.

  • EWA's Older Americans Month Toolkit (released May 2014) shares publications, programs, and personal stories from EWA member organizations that focus on the health and safety of older Americans.

  • EWA's monthly family e-newsletter provides the latest updates on member research, activities, and news.

  • EWA's issue briefs help frame and provide information on issues affecting the workforce caring for older Americans.
  • EWA’s Quality Care through a Quality Workforce Toolkit (released October 2014) provides resources for advocates of older adults who are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid to help promote concrete workforce policy and practice recommendations.
