CSWE Appoints Yaffe as New JSWE Editor-in-Chief

Joanne YaffeJoanne Yaffe, PhD, ACSW, has been named editor-in-chief of the Journal of Social Work Education (JSWE). She succeeds Dr. Susan Robbins, whose term ended in December 2016. Yaffe will serve a 3-year term, 2017–2019, during which time she will also head the JSWE Editorial Advisory Board and serve as an ex officio member of the CSWE Council on Publications.

Yaffe is professor, College of Social Work, University of Utah and adjunct professor of psychiatry, College of Medicine, University of Utah. Her scholarly interests are in evidence-based practice, using scientific knowledge for policy and practice decisions, and scholarly communication. She is particularly interested in the synthesis of research through systematic reviews and meta-analysis and, with colleagues at the University of Virginia, is working to establish what is known about the accuracy of eyewitness identification in criminal investigations.  She serves on the editorial board of the Social Welfare Group of the Campbell Collaboration and on the Committee on Publications of the Society for Social Work and Research. She is also a member of the International Advisory Group for CONSORT-SPI, which has developed guidelines for the reporting of randomized trials for complex social and psychological interventions. Yaffe received a BS in psychology from the University of Massachusetts, an MSW from the University of Michigan, and a PhD in social work and psychology from the University of Michigan. She has advanced training in systematic reviews and meta-analysis.
