2017 Hokenstad International Lecture

The Hokenstad International Lecture series was launched in 2007 through an endowment from M. C. “Terry” Hokenstad, a former president and long-time member of CSWE. The 2017 lecture was given during the CSWE Annual Program Meeting in Dallas, Texas, on Friday, October 20, 8:45 am–10:15 am in Lone Star B, Conference Center, 2nd Floor. The Partners in International Education Awards were presented at 8:45 am, immediately preceding the lecture.

The CSWE Commission on Global Social Work Education selected Manohar Pawar, PhD, professor of social work at Charles Sturt University, Australia, and president of the International Consortium for Social Development, as the 2017 lecturer. Dr. Pawar’s lecture was titled “Kant, Bentham, Aristotle, and My Grandmother: Developing the 'Caring Being' in Social Work.”
