HRSA Releases Report Highlighting Accomplishments Made Under the Biden-Harris Administration for the Health Workforce

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has released a report showcasing the significant achievements made under the healthcare and workforce priorities of the Biden–Harris Administration. The report includes data on the recruitments to the behavioral and mental health workforce, as well as information on efforts made by HRSA to improve healthcare quality and implement community-based collaborations to address social determinants of health. Notable accomplishments include adding nearly 30,000 new mental health and substance disorder treatment providers, launching a new initiative aimed at adding mental health training to primary care residency, and creating an interstate compact to improve access to mental health care by making it easier for providers to practice across state lines.
 

Trump Signs Executive Orders Impacting Research, Education, and Healthcare, and Rescinds Several Biden–Harris Initiatives 

On January 20, President Donald J. Trump signed a series of executive orders (EOs) affecting research, education, and healthcare, while rescinding key initiatives from the Biden–Harris Administration's Unity Agenda. Notably, the Ending Radical and Wasteful Government DEI Programs and Preferencing EO directs the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), the Attorney General, and the Director of the Office of Personnel Management to “coordinate the termination of all discriminatory programs, including illegal DEI” and “diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) mandates, policies, programs, preferences, and activities in the Federal Government.” This EO also impacts various programs, offices, and positions focused on environmental justice and equity.
 
Additionally, President Trump rescinded several prominent executive orders from the Biden-Harris Administration, including EO 13999: Protecting Worker Health and Safety, EO 13985: Advancing Racial Equity and Support for Underserved Communities Through the Federal Government, and EO 14031: Advancing Equity, Justice, and Opportunity for Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders, among others.
