Brittany T. Wilkins earned her B.A. with a psychology concentration from New College of Florida and her PhD (2011) and MSW (clinical concentration) from Florida State University. Dr. Wilkins is an associate professor and the MSW program director at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) in Johnson City, TN. At ETSU, Dr. Wilkins primarily teaches clinical social work courses and has helped develop fun (and educational) electives including Harry Potter and the Quest for Social Justice and Creative Activities in Social Work Practice.Dr. Wilkins has been a licensed clinical social worker since 2011, and her practice experience has primarily been in crisis stabilization/detoxification units, outpatient alcohol and drug treatment, and outpatient mental healthcare. From 2014–2019, Dr. Wilkins ran a practice where she helped people with various problems in living; she found special purpose helping transgender folks access gender-affirming healthcare in the South-Central Appalachian region.
