Paul Archibald, DrPH, LCSW-C (MD), LCSW (NY), MAC, C-CATODSW
Dr. Archibald is an Associate Professor and Master of Social Work Program Director at the College of Staten Island, City University of New York. Dr. Archibald is a public health social worker with over twenty years of clinical practice and training dedicated to the prevention and treatment of mental and physical health outcomes among persons exposed to chronic trauma and stressors. His current agenda is to utilize an intersectional approach to survey the role of stress and trauma in the contribution of trauma-and-stress-related health disparities (i.e., substance use disorders, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder [PTSD], obesity, etc.). Dr. Archibald has developed a trauma informed and healing centered framework coined the “polarity of triple-ACEs-effect”. The polarity of triple-ACEs-effect proposes that the risk and protective factors associated with the cumulative and interactive traumatic stress exposures in the Black population extend beyond adverse childhood experiences (ACEs-1) to include adverse community experiences (ACEs-2) and adverse cultural experiences (ACEs-3) as well as amazing childhood experiences (ACEs-1a), amazing community experiences (ACES-2a) and amazing cultural experiences (ACEs-3a).
Dr. Archibald is a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) through the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners (#11283); a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) through the New York State Education Department (#093930); a Certified Master Addiction Counselor (#509994) through the National Certification Commission for Addiction Professional (NCC AP); a Certified Clinical Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Social Worker (C-CATODSW) through the National Association of Social Workers; is certified as an Auricular Detoxification Specialist through the Maryland Board of Acupuncture (ADS065); is designated as a Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Approved Supervisor through the Maryland Board of Professional Counselors and Therapist (Reference #572); is designated as an Approved Social Work Supervisor through the Maryland Board of Social Examiners (2005); and is certified as a Trauma Specialist through the Baltimore City Mental Health Systems.
Dr. Archibald holds dear to his heart his public health social work role as “holistic health promoter.” He is a firm believer in the Ubuntu principle of health focused on the premise that “it takes a whole community to make a community whole!”
