Mission
The purpose of the MFP program for direct practice focused master’s students is to reduce health disparities and improve behavioral health-care outcomes for racially and ethnically diverse populations by increasing the number of culturally competent master’s level behavioral health professionals serving at-risk children, adolescents, and populations in transition to adulthood (aged 16–25). The program seeks to accomplish this goal by providing a monetary stipend, specialized training, mentoring, and other supports to racial and ethnic minority master’s level social work students committed to working in underserved communities and providing mental health services to at-risk minority children, adolescents, and transition age youths in the public or nonprofit sector.
