During the Annual Program Meeting (APM) a number of achievement and recognition awards will be presented. These awards help honor the outstanding scholarship and focused expertise of experienced social work educators. Click on each award link below to learn more about this year's recipients.


Professional Recognition Awards

2020 Significant Lifetime Achievement in Social Work Education Award

This award recognizes the achievements of a social work educator over an entire career.

2020 Distinguished Recent Contributions to Social Work Education Award

This award recognizes the achievements of a social work educator within the last 10 years.

2020 Early Career Faculty Service and Leadership in Social Work Education Award

This award recognizes a social work educator with fewer than 10 years of service who has advanced and promoted social work education and provided significant contributions to extend its reach. The award acknowledges extraordinary leadership contributions that affect social work education locally, nationally, or globally.

2020 Established Faculty Service and Leadership in Social Work Education Award

This award recognizes a social work educator with 10 years or longer of service excellence whose work has advanced and promoted social work education and provided a significant contribution to extend its reach. The award acknowledges extraordinary leadership contributions that affect social work education locally, nationally, or globally.



Commission and Council Awards

Community Partnership Action Award

This award honors the contributions of schools and departments of social work and social work students (BSW, MSW, PhD, or DSW) in advancing community partnership action. A community is broadly defined as a self-organized network of people with a common agenda, cause, or interest and is not limited by physical location.

CORSW Community Impact Award

This award recognizes community praxis that is shaped through the process of social work education and exemplifies the values of feminist leadership models in social work education.

CRECD Award

This award recognizes doctoral students and junior faculty members with outstanding scholarship in the areas of racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity in social work education.

Disability Manuscript Award

This award recognizes scholarship that contributes to knowledge about disability; full participation of persons with disabilities; social, political, and economic issues related to disability and persons with disabilities; and social work education curriculum materials focused on disability and persons with disabilities.

Feminist Manuscript Award

This award highlights an accepted APM proposal that advances feminist knowledge and is written by a scholar who shows dedication to feminism as it pertains to social work theory, research, practice, policy, and education.

Journal of Social Work Education Best Article Awards

Each year the Journal of Social Work Education (JSWE) Editorial Advisory Board chooses the most noteworthy articles published in JSWE during the previous volume year. These important articles discuss timely issues and significantly expand or deepen the body of knowledge related to their topics. Each article chosen is available for free download for 1 year.

Journal of Social Work Education Best Reviewer Awards

The Journal of Social Work Education Editorial Advisory Board recognizes an outstanding manuscript reviewer each year at the CSWE Annual Program Meeting. The award is given based on the percentage of manuscripts accepted, average time taken to return reviews, and quality of feedback to authors.

Partners in International Education Awards

This award honors the contribution of social work faculty members, social work students (BSW, MSW, or PhD), and organizations as partners in advancing education for international social work. The PIE Awards are given in recognition of conceptual, curricular, and programmatic innovations in education for international social work.

SOGIE Scholarship Award

The award recognizes scholarship that contributes to knowledge about sexual orientation and gender identity and expression (SOGIE); the individual and systemic issues associated with these topics; the development of social work curriculum materials and faculty growth opportunities relevant to SOGIE; and the experiences of individuals who are gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, and/or two-spirit.

Violence Against Women and Children Manuscript Award
