APM Location Awards
This year, the CSWE APM Location Awards will recognize the extraordinary impact of local leaders and organizations in the community which we hold our CSWE annual conference, recognizing the exceptional leadership within our Kansas City, MO, community and the significant impact of these organizations at local, national, and global levels.

2024 CSWE Individual Champion for Social Justice Award
This award recognizes the extraordinary impact of an individual in the local community in which we hold our CSWE annual conference. We acknowledge your extraordinary leadership in social work education, scholarship, and service and the impact of your work locally, nationally, and globally. Please see the 2024 recipient below:
Jimmy Lee Beason II, MSW
Jimmy Lee Beason II is from the Osage Nation and is a professor in the Indigenous Studies department at Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, KS. He is a writer who advocates for decolonization and empowerment among Native communities. Beason has contributed articles and creative writing to outlets such as Mashable, Indian Country Today, Last Real Indians, and Northend Agents. He has contributed a chapter to the edited volume, Indigenous Societies in the Post-colonial World: Responses and Resilience Through Global Perspectives and is the author of Native Americans in History: A History Book for Kids.
2024 CSWE Community Impact Award
This award recognizes the extraordinary impact of an organization in the local community in which we hold our CSWE annual conference. We acknowledge your extraordinary leadership in the community and the impact of your organization locally, nationally, and globally. Please see the 2024 recipient below:
Principal Chief Judith ‘Trǫnyáęhk’ Manthe
Judith Manthe grew up near Wyandotte County, close to Piper, Kansas. There, she was involved in various community, school, and church groups and led several projects. In 2019, Judith was elected Principal Chief of Wyandot Nation of Kansas. Her Grandmother Edith Zane Yunghans, always told her many stories of her heritage and said to her: “Never forget your 5th Great Grandfather is Chief Tarhe, a Great Wyandot Chief!” As Principal Chief, she has shared Wyandot history with many groups and school-age children. She loves attending the Green Corn Ceremony in Oklahoma and the Wyandotte Gathering, where she continues to learn about Wyandot history and native crafts. Being with her Wyandot family fills her heart with Joy. As a distant relative of the Wyandot Conley Sisters, she is honored to share their story through a Traveling Art Exhibit, called “Trespassers Beware! Fort Conley and Wyandot Women Warriors".

This award recognizes the significant contributions of an organization in the local community in which we hold our CSWE annual conference, to community engagement. We acknowledge your extraordinary leadership and the contributions of your organization to individuals, families, groups, and other systems in your local communities.
