Feb. 27, 2020, Alexandria, VA – The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) today announced that Patrick Dunne, APR, has joined CSWE as the vice president of communications and marketing. Dunne brings 15 years of communications, public relations, and association marketing experience to CSWE. He will lead strategies that enhance the understanding of and appreciation for social work education, as well as the social work profession itself, among the public, lawmakers, and key audiences.
“Patrick’s experience in creating and leading communications and marketing strategies will serve our members well and support CSWE’s mission to advance excellence and innovation in social work education. We are excited to have Patrick join our team,” said CSWE President and CEO Darla Spence Coffey, PhD, MSW.
“It is a privilege to support social workers, educators, and students at CSWE and connect members to the many opportunities for leadership, professional development, and advocacy that will improve the health and well-being of communities everywhere,” Dunne said.
Most recently, Dunne served as the senior director of communications at the National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA), where he oversaw communications and member engagement strategies that supported the organization’s advocacy mission and led public relations efforts that highlighted America’s need for better and safer infrastructure. Prior to NSSGA, he had directed public relations and digital communications at the American Academy of Physician Assistants and had managed social media and member communications at the National Business Aviation Association. Before entering the world of trade associations and member organizations, Dunne was a reporter for The Gazette newspapers in Maryland.
He holds a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Penn State University and the APR leadership credential from the Public Relations Society of America. The Philadelphia-area native lives in Arlington, VA, with his wife and son.
