Accreditation
"Based on the hard work and passion CSWE has about setting high-quality standards within the social work education community, this achievement comes as no surprise, but it should be uplifted and celebrated," said Dr. Shanéa Thomas, Executive Director of the CSWE Department of Accreditation, "I thank and appreciate CHEA for seeing and recognizing the commitment to accountability by our Board and staff, and I look forward to leading us into 7 more years.”
CSWE-BOA is recognized to accredit baccalaureate and master's social work education programs in the United States.
Recognition is granted in 7-year increments, and the process includes an application, self-study, in-person hearing, and interim reports.
CSWE-BOA chair, Dr. Tom Gregoire, said, “This is an incredible accomplishment for CSWE and BOA. Much like social work education programs experiencing reaffirmation, we’ve learned a great deal through this process to help us better support social work programs.” Dr. Gregoire continued, “We do the work of peer-review accreditation with a spirit of service to the profession, students, educators, clients, and communities. When we set a national standard, we are setting a standard for how everyone should be treated when engaging with a social worker.”
CSWE is proud of the educational programs preparing the next generation of social workers, and grateful to our volunteer BOA and site visitors who invest their time and talents in the peer-review accreditation process.
