The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) is pleased to announce the approval and release of the 2022 Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS).
CSWE’s Commission on Accreditation (COA) and Commission on Educational Policy (COEP) are jointly responsible for developing the 2022 Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards (EPAS). The educational policy was developed by the COEP and approved unanimously by the CSWE Board of Directors on June 3, 2022. The accreditation standards were developed and approved unanimously by the COA on June 9, 2022.
The 2022 EPAS are available now.
Resources are posted on the CSWE website to assist programs as they begin planning their transition to the new EPAS, including:

- Glossary of key terms
- Anti-racism, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ADEI) information
- FAQs
- Candidacy Benchmark Grid
Additional accreditation resources such as policy handbooks, interpretation guides, templates, and forms will be shared with programs and posted on the CSWE website in late 2022. Accreditation trainings will be available in early 2023.
Optional educational resources will be offered in the future and stakeholders engaged as they are developed.
CSWE recognizes and appreciates the work of the 2022 EPAS Joint Committee in leading the revision process. In addition, CSWE extends gratitude to the COA, the COEP, social work education programs, partner organizations, volunteers, members of the public, and other stakeholders who provided constructive feedback during this important process.
