[ALEXANDRIA, VA, September 25, 2023] — The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) is pleased to announce the appointment of Megan Fujita, PhD, MSW, as its new Vice President of Education. In her new role, Fujita will play a pivotal role in advancing the organization's mission to promote and enhance the quality of social work education and ensure its continued relevance in today's rapidly evolving educational landscape.

As a leader, she has unquestionable work ethics, wisdom, authenticity, and the ability to hold people accountable with grace and generosity."
Fujita brings a wealth of experience and leadership expertise to CSWE. In her previous role as the Executive Director of Accreditation at CSWE, she oversaw accreditation operations of more than 900 social work education programs and post-master’s social work fellowship programs across the United States and its territories. She holds a PhD in education policy and research methodology from George Mason University and a Master of Social Work in interpersonal practice and mental health from the University of Michigan. She is a lecturer at George Washington University, where she teaches statistics, and holds a faculty affiliate appointment at George Mason University’s College of Education and Human Development. Fujita’s research focuses on post-secondary/financial decision-making and mental health among students with disabilities and their families.
“I am thrilled to take on this role at CSWE,” Fujita said. “Partnership is key to this vision, and I look forward to working with programs and members in developing and providing innovative educational programming, offering services that highlight the work of our members, and helping to prepare social work students for practice grounded in equity and anti-oppression.”
In this role, Fujita will have broad responsibilities for the strategic development and implementation of programs, products and services that will support CSWE members in teaching and learning, leadership and curriculum development, and educational research. She will oversee a number of key programs and centers, including CSWE’s Minority Fellowship Program, the Kendall Institute, and the Diversity Center. In addition, she will assume responsibility for leadership development initiatives in collaboration with CSWE’s Council on Leadership Development.
