The Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) and National Association of Social Workers (NASW) welcomed the new members of the 117th Congress. CSWE took the opportunity to share policy principles for members of Congress to follow in order to advance the social work profession and improve access to higher education."As the 117th Congress gets underway, we look forward to working with you to address the twin
pandemics of COVID-19 and systemic racism. Social workers continue to work on the front lines,
including in policy roles, to respond to these crises. We also look forward to working with you to
advance our mental health and social justice priorities, and to support our workforce so we can meet society’s growing needs," wrote Darla Spence Coffey, CSWE president and CEO, and Angelo McClain, NASW CEO.
