Natural and man-made disasters, sexual abuse, military combat, hate crimes, and other assaults—all of these experiences prompt a feeling of loss of control and fear for personal well-being. 

This DVD depicts two social work interns dealing with the effects of their clients’ trauma narratives and traumatic reactions.

It features the interns' sessions with a survivor of Hurricane Katrina and a young woman who has been sexually abused by her stepfather. 

Students discuss these client sessions with supervisors (Charles Figley, PhD, and Carol Tosone, PhD), after which the supervisors present key teaching points for working with survivors of trauma.
